Abstract

Artificial Neural Network has the ability to solve complex problem in this modern computing world. Image Processing with Artificial Neural Network (ANN) has found its application in identification and analysis of medical images, fingerprints, human images, speech recognition and in handwritten character recognition. In this paper Image processing with artificial neural network is used to recognition the offline handwritten characters. In offline character recognition, processing of various steps in series are carried out, such as pre-processing, feature extraction & finally classification using artificial neural network. In preprocessing we reduce the noise and increase the quality of the image and next we go for feature extraction. In extracting the feature we use novel method, bi-orthogonal wavelet function. The feature estimated using bi-orthogonal wavelet is saved for the each image in the training set. Features saved are given as input to the Back Propagation Artificial Neural Network during training phase. It produces the output accurately based on the trained images during testing phase. The method is used to recognize all the 24 English characters effectively.

Abstract

Power quality has been an issue that is becoming pivotal in the point of view of electricity consumers in recent times. The modern technologies employ sensitive power electronics devices, non-linear loads and control devices to increase their system efficiency. The most common power quality problem due to the use of large number of this sensitive equipments is voltage disturbances. A custom power device Dynamic Voltage Restorer(DVR) has introduced to protect the sensitive loads from voltage disturbances such as voltage sag/ swell. The performance of the DVR to compensate the load voltage is based on the controller used to control the DVR. In this paper two different control strategies namely PI controller and Fuzzy Logic Controller(FLC) are proposed and compared based on THD of load voltage during compensation and the DVR is supported by Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage(SMES) which is characterized with highly efficient energy storage and fast response. Using MATLAB/ Simulink the model of SMES supported DVR with PI controller and FLC are established and analysed. The simulation tests are performed to evaluate the system performance.

Abstract

This paper deals with design and simulation of ANFIS based control scheme for H-Bridge multilevel PV inverter with individual MPPT control in 3-phase grid applications. This type of inverter topology helps to increase the flexibility and efficiency of PV systems. For better operation of PV modules and increase the solar power extraction, an individual MPPT control scheme is applied to 3-phase multilevel inverters at each phase, it will allows independent control of each dc-link voltage. as PV panel mismatches, it produce an unbalanced delivered power, which leads to unbalanced grid current in 3-phase gridconnected applications. In order to solve this problem, a ANFIS based control scheme with modulation compensation is proposed. Simulation results in terms of THD are presented to verify the possibility of the proposed approach by using MATLAB SIMULINK model design.

Abstract

The present day population and its effects on traffic are on a greater hike. This has extended towards increase in pollution which emerged as an outspoken issue thorough out the world. This project is a solution to avoid traffic issues and pollution at a particular place. In order to have an efficient monitoring system that allows for accurate vehicle tracking as well as easy in-and out access for drivers, this project forecasts all the possible ways to reduce traffic. The existing methodology aims at implementing RFID concept .This uses a card to park the car based on the hour basis and deduces the amount based on the in and out time. The proposed methodology aims at interfacing RFID concept with Internet Of Things (IOT) to establish a client server communication and in order to enhance a mobile friendly environment an android app is being developed that gives prior information to the user about the availability of parking slot and thereby enabling them to book the slot for parking which ensures minimization of traffic issues and reduces pollution to a greater extent.

Abstract

Solar Energy is the prominent source of renewable energy. But, it is unpleasant that, only partial amount of energy can be extracted from the Solar cells by our conventional DC-DC Boost converters. An interleaved buck and boost dc/dc converter is developed featuring smaller input/output filters, faster dynamic response and lower device stress than conventional designs, for solar powered applications. Input and output ripples of voltage and current of the converter is very low. The simulations were carried out using MATLAB/SIMULINK software package and hardware implemented.

Abstract

This paper emphasizes on analysis of transient stability by introducing three phase Fault using time domain analysis with maximum wind power penetration. The present scenario such as global energy crisis, carbon dioxide emission and global surface mean temperature rise reveals the importance of sustainable development projects. Considering the gradual increase in power demand and wind integration with maximum tapping potential, it is essential to enhance the existing network to improve the voltage stability to accomplish reliable power transfer with minimal network expansion cost. The proposed work aims-to identify the impact of the sudden application of three-phase fault on the power grid. Controller namely Power System Stabilizer is employed for the analysis which improves the transient stability of power system in this work. The proposed methodology has been tested on Kerala grid 220KV-26 bus system with maximum wind penetration and the results were validated by using the test results of IEEE 14 bus system.

Abstract

Owing to fast growth in the world population and aspiration of people for higher standards of living, the world will need greatly increased energy supply in the coming years, especially cleanly-generated electricity. A cleaner energy future depends on the development of alternative energy technologies to meet the world’s growing energy needs. The transition to sustainable energy resources and systems provides an opportunity to address multiple environmental, economic and development need. In recent days power generation availing renewable energy sources accumulated enhanced captivation. The most universally available energy resource is wind. The objective presented here is charging of mobile phone using the wind energy available during travelling. A DC generator provides voltage obligatory for charging the mobile when the vehicle speed exceeds 25Km/hr. Even though the speed fall is perceived, the mobile will get continuously charged by the external battery source which is affixed to the proposed circuit. This could be used as an exigency source for charging the mobile while travelling in a vehicle.
